Line Perpendicular to a Plane

This object is an intersection sign at a road. The intersection sign is perpendicular to the plane it is on. I found this object on http://ww2.valdosta.edu/~dkrabel/perpendicular.jpg. As you can see, perpendicular lines are commonly used for intersections. Also they are used on windows a lot to separate them.
